Although on the fringes of urban London and in the borough of Spelthorne, Shepperton High Street is referred to by everyone as ‘The Village' and retains a village community feeling. Traders know many of their customers by name and all the local community groups pull together to keep this special environment.
In 2011, a regeneration of the High Street was completed: An initiative of the local borough council with the borough's investment matched by Surrey County Council. The purpose was to enhance the village centre to make it more attractive, thereby encouraging local trade.
The design was agreed by the SVCG steering group led by the ward councillors, other members being from local community groups, such as civic pride, church, rotary, business community, residents' association, horticultural society and representatives from the county council.
The final scheme concentrated on Renfree Corner, the village hall area and the central island/slip road, and incorporated these main achievements:-

2) IMPROVE PARKING AREAS

3) WORKS TO IMPROVE THE TREES
